Student Of The Month - 2014
For over 60-years, the Ellwood City Lions Club has honored an Ellwood City
Lincoln High School student on a monthly basis. This year's recipients are:
December - DEREK LUST. Derek is a senior at Lincoln High School and a National Honor Society student.
He is an enthusiastic student of physics and loves to compare its fundamentals to Formula-1 racing. As such, he is undecided
on choosing his field of future studies, Physics or Mechanical Engineering. For past three years, Derek has
also been involved with French and History clubs. The Lions presented Derek with a Student Of The Month Certificate
and a $100 donation towards his future studies either at Penn State or Ohio State Universities. (Pictured from left:

November - MARINA THETFORD. As a senior at Lincoln High School, Marina has been a star of the last three musicals.
In 2012 she was Cosette in Les Miserables, in 2013 she was Dorothy in Wizard Of Oz and this year she was Maria in the Sound Of Music.
She sang at Relay For Life and Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Choir for last two years, while her voice can be heard weekly
as a Cantor at the St. Elias Orthodox Church. Marina is also a National Honor Society student and participates in the
Government Club, Spanish Club and the Tennis Team. The Lions presented Olivia with a Student Of The Month Certificate
and a $100 donation towards her future studies in Mathematics at the Boston College University. (Pictured from left:

October - OLIVIA PIGZA. Olivia is a senior at Lincoln High School and a National Honor Society student with a 4.125 GPA.
Her involvement in the school activities include being an officer of March Of Dimes, Student Council, Peer Leadership and Ellwood City Culture Club.
Olivia is also a varsity cheerleader and was elected as a 2014 Homecoming Queen. Additionally, Olivia volunteers at the Holly Redeemer
Festival Booth, American Heart Association, Relay For Life and Yellow Ribbon Girls. The Lions presented Olivia with a Student Of The Month Certificate
and a $100 donation towards her future studies at the Penn State University where she will pursue a degree in Biology. (Pictured from left:

September - TYLER NEYMAN. Tyler is a senior at Lincoln High School and a student athlete playing football for 10-yrs.
Currently he is the Captain of the varsity squad. He is a member of the National Honor Society, History Club, Peer Leadership and German Club.
The Lions presented Tyler with a Student Of The Month Certificate and a $100 donation towards his future studies at the University of Pittsburgh

May - DONALD KERR. Donald is a senior at Lincoln High School and a student athlete with a 4.125 GPA. He is on the
Varsity Football and Wrestling teams, a 2-time WPIAL Wrestling Qualifier and was awarded with the "2014 Spirit Award" for football and
wrestling. Besides sports, Donald belongs to the History Club and works part-time at McDonalds' in Ellwood City. The Lions presented
Donald with a Student Of The Month Certificate and a $100 donation towards his future studies in Information Sciences and Engineering

April - MACKENZIE BARKEY. Mackenzie is a senior at Lincoln High School and a National Honor Society student
where her favorite subject is Math. She is active with Lil Angels Softball, Track and Field, Gymnastics, Powder Puff and Youth Bowling
while working at Diamond Dance Academy. The Lions presented Mackenzie with a Student Of The Month Certificate and a $100 donation
towards her future studies in Human Recources and Criminal Justice at Clarion University. (Pictured: Mackenzie with parents

March - DAKOTA MARSHALL. A senior at Lincoln High School, Dakota is active in Stage Crew, Peer Leadership,
Student Council, Culture Club and Band. He is a Webmaster for the Ellwood City Physical Education and a student director
of the Puppet Theatre at the Ellwood City Library. The Lions presented Dakota with a Student Of The Month Certificate and
a $100 donation towards his future studies in Library / Computer Teaching at CCBC or Clarion University. (Pictured

February - ABIGAIL KONYAK. Abigail is a senior at Lincoln High School with a GPA of 4.0 and her
favorite subject is Math. While being the President of Senior High Student Council and the Vice-President
of the National Honor Society, Abigail is also involved with Peer Leadership, Club Hope, March of Dimes and
Ellwood City Culture Club. Currently, Abigail is taking voice lessons to complement her 15-yrs of competitive
dancing at Studio"P". The Lions presented Abigail with a Student Of The Month Certificate and a $100 donation
towards her future studies. She plans to further her education in Child Psychology at Kent State University. (Pictured

January - BRAD SCOTT. Brad is a senior at Lincoln High School with a GPA of 4.0 and his favorite
subject is Math. He's been active and held an office in Ellwood City Culture Club, National Honor Society,
Peer Leadership, Spanish Club and Future Business Leaders of America. He is a member of Wurtemburg Presbyterian
